Power Automate Step By Step: Free Course With Real Projects
Learn Power Automate step by step: flow types, variables, Excel and REST API, error handling, trigger conditions and approval flow projects. 26 free videos.

Learn Power Automate Step By Step With Real Time Projects teaches you to build Power Automate cloud flows from the basics up, then puts those skills to work in real projects. It is for beginners in Microsoft 365 and Power Platform, business users who want to automate everyday work, and IT staff who need approval and data flows that are reliable and easy to maintain.
The course covers flow types, templates, connectors, variables and Compose, then an Excel data uploader project, error handling with try and catch, trigger conditions, and four approval-based projects. It has 26 videos, about 5.2 hours in total, all free on YouTube and listed on the Power Automate course page.
Who this course is for
- Beginners who have never built a flow and want to understand the concepts, not just copy templates.
- Business and operations users who handle Excel data, approvals and reminders by hand today.
- Microsoft 365 administrators and developers who need flows that fail safely, log their errors and can be maintained by someone else.
The catalog marks it Beginner. If you do not already have a Microsoft 365 setup, the optional prerequisite videos show how to prepare Outlook, a Microsoft 365 tenant and a SharePoint site collection.
What you will learn
1. Power Automate concepts (Part I). Flow types, flow templates, creating a flow with connectors, creating maintainable flows (in two parts), variables and Compose. Maintainability gets its own lessons for a good reason: flows that are hard to read are hard to fix later.
2. Project 1: an Excel data uploader tool. The project overview, Work with Rest API, Power Automate - Excel Online Connector, Data Operations - Filter And Select and Loops In Power Automate. Together these cover reading data, reshaping it and processing it row by row, which is the core of most business flows.
3. Error handling and debugging. Implement Try And Catch Logic In Power Automate, Build Run History URL For Debugging and Custom Error Logging In Power Automate. These are the lessons that separate a flow that works on day one from a flow that you can support for years.
4. Triggers and conditions. Trigger Conditions and Conditional Control show how to run a flow only when it should run, and how to branch inside it. Good trigger conditions also save runs and prevent duplicate work.
5. Approvals and approval projects. Basic Approvals: Understand Power Automate Approvals System (about 30 minutes) explains the approvals system. You then build Create Multilevel Dynamic Serial Flow (Project 2), Create Conditional Approval Flow (Project 3), Create Configurable Flow (Project 4, the longest video at about 41 minutes) and a reminder system (Project 4.1).
How the course is organised
There are 26 videos and about 5.2 hours in total:
- Video 1: course introduction.
- Videos 2–4: optional setup for Outlook, a Microsoft 365 tenant and a site collection.
- Videos 5–11: Part I concepts.
- Videos 12–19: Project 1, plus the error handling and debugging lessons.
- Videos 20–21: trigger conditions and conditional control.
- Videos 22–26: approvals and Projects 2, 3, 4 and 4.1.
The concepts come first and the projects get bigger towards the end, so follow the course in order.
How to study it step by step
- Get your environment ready. Skip videos 2–4 if you already have Outlook, a tenant and a SharePoint site. Otherwise follow them first.
- Build every concept flow yourself in Part I, even the small ones. Give your actions clear names from the start, as the maintainability lessons suggest.
- Do Project 1 end to end with your own small Excel file, so the data operations make sense with data you know.
- Break your flow on purpose after the try and catch lesson, and check that the error is caught and logged.
- Add a trigger condition to one of your earlier flows and confirm it no longer runs when it should not.
- Build the approval projects in order. Each one adds complexity to the last, from serial multilevel approval to conditional and configurable flows.
- Finish with the reminder system, then adapt one project to a real approval process at your work.
This course currently has no Skills Pragati hands-on lab guide, practice simulation or mock exam.
