AB-730 Microsoft 365 Copilot Course: Free Study Guide
Free AB-730 Microsoft 365 Copilot course guide: how LLMs and Copilot work, labs in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, prompts, agents and responsible AI.

The AB-730 Microsoft 365 Copilot Full Course is a free video course that prepares you for the Microsoft AB-730 exam by explaining how Copilot works and then using it in the Microsoft 365 apps you already know. It is for office workers, team leads and IT professionals who want to use Copilot well at work and prove it with a certification.
The course starts with the theory of large language models (LLMs) and the Copilot architecture, then moves into hands-on labs with Copilot in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, the Analyst agent, prompt engineering and managing prompts and conversations. Everything is listed on the AB-730 course page.
Who this course is for
AB-730 is an Associate level exam called Microsoft 365 Copilot. The course suits:
- Business users who have Copilot in Word, Excel, Outlook or PowerPoint and want to get reliable results from it.
- Team leads and analysts who want to use Copilot and the Analyst agent for data analysis, forecasting and visualisation.
- IT and support staff who need to explain to colleagues how Copilot reaches company data and what keeps that data safe.
- Beginners to AI, because the course explains generative AI and LLMs from the ground up before any lab.
What you will learn
The 20 videos group into six themes.
1. The exam and your environment
M365 Copilot Certification - AB 730 Exam Overview explains what the certification is about. Microsoft Stopped Free M365 Developer Tenants? Create One This Way! shows one way to get a Microsoft 365 environment to practise in, which matters because you learn Copilot by using it.
2. How LLMs and Copilot work
04 LLMs & Copilot Architecture is a 25-minute theory lesson on generative AI, tokens, prompts and completions, the context window, Microsoft Graph, the semantic index, grounding and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG). Understanding this flow makes every later lab easier to reason about.
3. Copilot in the Microsoft 365 apps
Four labs show the same assistant behaving differently in each app: Working with Copilot In MS Word, Working with Copilot In MS Excel, Working with Copilot in Outlook and Build Stunning PowerPoint Presentation in a Minute using Copilot. Seeing them side by side teaches you which app suits which task.
4. Chat, agents and modes
Understand Copilot Chat Vs Agent, Copilot Chat vs Researcher Agent and Microsoft Copilot Work Mode vs Web Mode Explained clear up three comparisons that often confuse new users. The Microsoft Copilot Analyst Agent lab then applies an agent to AI data analysis, forecasting and visualisation.
5. Responsible AI
Responsible AI in Microsoft Copilot (theory) and its lab cover hallucinations, prompt injection, data protection and verification. These are the habits that stop Copilot output from causing problems at work.
6. Prompts and conversations
15 Prompt Engineering, Microsoft Copilot Prompt Engineering, Managing Prompts in Microsoft 365 Copilot, the Managing Copilot Prompts lab (save, schedule and share prompts) and the Managing Conversations theory and lab teach you to write better prompts and keep your work organised.
How the course is organised
- 20 videos, about 4.2 hours in total, free on YouTube.
- It opens with a 17-minute course introduction, then the exam overview and the tenant set-up video.
- Theory lessons (about 9 to 25 minutes) are usually followed by a short lab (about 6 to 11 minutes) on the same topic.
- The course moves from foundations, to the apps, to chat and agents, to responsible AI, and finally to prompts and conversations.
You can watch it all in the YouTube playlist.
How to study it step by step
- Watch the introduction and the exam overview so you know the scope.
- Set up a place to practise. Follow the tenant video if you do not already have Copilot available.
- Learn the architecture properly. Watch 04 LLMs & Copilot Architecture with notes. Be able to explain prompt versus completion, Microsoft Graph, the semantic index and grounding in your own words.
- Do the four app labs with Copilot open. Repeat each step yourself in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, and note how the output changes from app to app.
- Sort out the comparisons. Watch the Chat vs Agent, Researcher and Work vs Web mode videos together, then try the Analyst agent lab.
- Study responsible AI as a pair. Theory first, then the lab on hallucinations, prompt injection and verification.
- Finish with prompts and conversations. Save, schedule and share at least one prompt of your own.
- Check yourself with the mock exam. Skills Pragati has a mock exam for this course covering Copilot foundations, Copilot in the Microsoft 365 apps, Copilot Chat and agents, and responsible AI. Start with the free 10-question sample; the full timed mock comes with a subscription at ₹1,199/month or ₹7,999/year.
How it helps with the AB-730 exam
The course is built for AB-730: Microsoft 365 Copilot, at Associate level. The theory lessons explain the concepts the course itself stresses for the exam, such as how Copilot reaches data through Microsoft Graph, what the semantic index does and how grounding works. The labs then give you practical experience in each app, so scenario questions feel familiar.
The mock exam’s four topic areas match the course themes, which makes it a good way to find weak spots before you book. Always check Microsoft’s official exam page for the current skills outline.
To go further, AB-731 AI Transformation Leader looks at Copilot and AI from a leader’s point of view, and Microsoft 365 Copilot and Agent Administration Step By Step covers the admin side of preparing a company for Copilot.
Frequently asked questions
Is the AB-730 course free?
Yes. All 20 videos are free on YouTube and listed on the AB-730 course page. Only the full mock exam needs a Skills Pragati subscription; the 10-question sample is free.
How long does the AB-730 course take?
The videos total about 4.2 hours. If you repeat each lab in your own Microsoft 365 apps, two to three weeks at a relaxed pace is realistic.
Do I need a Copilot licence to follow along?
You can learn a lot by watching, but the labs are most useful if you can repeat them. One video shows a way to create a Microsoft 365 environment for practice.
Is there a mock exam for AB-730?
Yes. It covers four areas: Copilot foundations, Copilot in Microsoft 365 apps, Copilot Chat and agents, and responsible AI. Anyone can take the free 10-question sample.
