Step By Step Mastering Modern JavaScript teaches JavaScript from the browser console up, one small topic per video. It is for complete beginners and for people who have copied JavaScript snippets before but never really understood them, and who now want a solid base for web development or frameworks such as React.

The course moves from variables and data types through control flow, functions and objects to the Document Object Model (DOM), events, a small pop-up project and the modern array methods. There are 53 short videos, about 5.1 hours in total, all free on YouTube and listed on the Modern JavaScript course page.

Who this course is for

  • Absolute beginners who want their first programming language to be the language of the web.
  • HTML and CSS learners who are ready to make pages interactive.
  • Future React developers who want the JavaScript fundamentals React assumes.
  • Self-taught coders with gaps in areas such as this, callbacks or reference types.

The catalog marks it Beginner. All you need is a browser and a code editor.

What you will learn

1. Getting started. How To Include JavaScript To WebPage and Lets Understand Browser Console show where your code runs. The console becomes your playground for the rest of the course.

2. Variables and data types. Variables, constants and comments, then data types, strings, numbers, template strings, arrays, null and undefined, booleans and comparisons, Loose Vs Strict Comparison and type conversion. Many beginner bugs come from loose comparison and automatic type conversion, so these lessons pay off quickly.

3. Control flow. For loops, while and do-while loops, if, else and else if, the logical NOT and logical operators, break and continue, and the switch statement. This is how your programs make decisions and repeat work.

4. Functions. Understanding Functions, Function Declaration Vs Function Expression, arguments and parameters, returning values, arrow functions, callback functions, Function Vs Method and the forEach method. Callbacks especially come up everywhere in modern JavaScript.

5. Objects. JavaScript objects, object literals and adding methods to them, the this keyword, the Math object and Primitive Types Vs Reference Types. Understanding reference types explains why changing one variable can sometimes change another.

6. The DOM and events. The Document Object Model, querySelector, getting elements by ID, class and tag, adding and modifying page content, getting and setting attributes, style manipulation, adding and removing classes, node relationships, events and a hands-on Project PopUp. This is where your pages start to respond to the user.

7. Forms and array methods. Forms, then filter, map, reduce, find and sort. These methods are the everyday tools of modern JavaScript and of frameworks built on it.

How the course is organised

There are 53 videos and about 5.1 hours in total. Most videos are between 3 and 10 minutes long, so each one focuses on a single idea.

The order runs from basics to the browser:

  • Videos 1–3: introduction, adding JavaScript to a page and the browser console.
  • Videos 4–13: variables, data types and type conversion.
  • Videos 14–23: control flow.
  • Videos 24–31: functions.
  • Videos 32–37: objects and reference types.
  • Videos 38–47: the DOM, events and the pop-up project.
  • Videos 48–53: filter, forms, map, reduce, find and sort.

How to study it step by step

  1. Open the browser console in video 3 and keep it open. Type every example yourself instead of only watching.
  2. Do two or three videos a day. They are short, and regular practice beats one long weekend.
  3. After the control flow block, write a tiny program, such as a multiplication table or a grade calculator, using loops and if/else.
  4. After the functions block, rewrite that program using arrow functions and a callback.
  5. Build the pop-up project yourself in video 47 before you watch the solution all the way through.
  6. Finish the array methods, then rewrite one of your earlier loops using map, filter or reduce. That is the habit modern JavaScript code expects.

This course currently has no Skills Pragati hands-on lab guide, practice simulation or mock exam.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Modern JavaScript course free?

Yes. All 53 videos are free on YouTube, and the course page lists them in order.

How long does it take?

Do I need any prior programming experience?

No. The course is rated Beginner and starts with how to add JavaScript to a web page. Knowing a little HTML helps once you reach the DOM lessons.

What should I learn after this?

The natural next step is Step By Step Mastering React, which builds on functions, objects, events and array methods. If you want a quick review first, try the Modern JavaScript Refresher Course.
