AI for Product Owners is a free, beginner-level video course that shows product owners how to use AI across the everyday work of product ownership. It is for product owners, aspiring POs, business analysts and Scrum team members who want to write better stories, run sharper refinement sessions and plan sprints and roadmaps with AI as a working partner.

The course has 17 videos and about 9.2 hours of content on YouTube. Most topics come as a pair: a theory video that explains the practice and where AI helps, followed by a workshop video where you apply it. That pairing is what makes the course useful: you do not just hear about AI-assisted user stories, you write them. The full outline is on the AI for Product Owners course page.

Who this course is for

  • Product owners who want to bring AI into backlog work without losing control of the product.
  • Aspiring product owners and business analysts moving into a PO role, who need the core practices and the AI layer together.
  • Scrum Masters and team leads who facilitate refinement and planning and want to see how AI changes those sessions.
  • Product managers who work with roadmaps and stakeholders.

The level is Beginner. You do not need a technical or data science background; the course opens with AI fundamentals in the context of product ownership.

What you will learn

The 17 videos group into six themes that follow the life of a product backlog.

1. AI fundamentals for product ownership. “AI for Product Owners: Master AI Fundamentals” and “Master AI Fundamentals in Product Ownership” set the base: what AI can do for a PO and where it fits in the role. Everything later builds on this.

2. User stories. “Master User Story Writing Theory” and “Master User Story Writing Workshop” cover the most common PO artefact. Well-written stories make every later step, from refinement to planning, faster.

3. Acceptance criteria and the Definition of Ready. “Master Acceptance Criteria DoR Theory” and the “Acceptance Criteria Skills” workshop focus on making stories testable and ready to pull into a sprint. This is where many teams lose time, so it is worth practising carefully.

4. Backlog refinement and prioritisation. The backlog refinement theory and workshop, plus “Unlock Prioritization Theory” and the prioritisation workshop, cover keeping the backlog healthy and deciding what comes first.

5. Sprint and roadmap planning. “Master Sprint Planning Theory”, the “Sprint Planning Mastery” workshop, “Unlock Roadmap Planning Theory” and the roadmap workshop move from the next sprint to the longer view.

6. Stakeholders, governance and the future PO. “Unlock Essential Stakeholder Discovery Theory” and its workshop cover discovery with stakeholders, and “Master Governance Future PO Theory” looks at governance and how the PO role is changing with AI.

How the course is organised

  • 17 videos, about 9.2 hours in total.
  • An opening AI fundamentals video (about 36 minutes), then a fundamentals-in-product-ownership video.
  • Theory and workshop pairs for user stories, acceptance criteria, backlog refinement, prioritisation, sprint planning, roadmap planning and stakeholder discovery.
  • Theory videos are mostly 40 to 46 minutes; workshops are mostly 20 to 28 minutes.

The playlist order does not always place each workshop right after its theory video. A simple rule: watch the theory first, then find the matching workshop and do it straight away while the ideas are fresh.

How to study it step by step

  1. Start with the fundamentals. Watch the two AI fundamentals videos and note the tasks in your own job where AI could help.
  2. User stories. Watch the theory, then do the workshop using a real feature from your product, not just the example.
  3. Acceptance criteria and DoR. Watch the theory, do the workshop, and rewrite two of your own stories so they meet a clear Definition of Ready.
  4. Backlog refinement. Watch the theory and workshop, then run a short refinement of your own backlog with AI suggestions, and review every suggestion yourself.
  5. Prioritisation. Theory, then workshop. Rank a real set of backlog items and write down why.
  6. Sprint planning, then roadmap planning. Do each theory and workshop pair in that order: the next sprint first, the longer horizon second.
  7. Stakeholder discovery and governance. Finish with stakeholder discovery and the governance and future PO video, which ties the course together.

A pace of one theory and workshop pair per week fits around a full-time job. You can also watch the whole course as a YouTube playlist.

If you are preparing for a new role, the Interview Fundamentals and Resume course is a natural next step after this one.

Frequently asked questions

Is AI for Product Owners free?
